Reasons People choose Permanent Make-up

What is Permanent Make-up?

The permanent make-up or semi-permanent pigmentation is a form of cosmetic tattooing where pigment is  deposited via needle into the first layer of the skin, the epidermis, using a special technique developed for medical and beauty purposes. The effcect of this procedure lasts anywhere from 1-3 years more or less depending on the individual’s skin regeneration. Permanent Make-up can be touched up to refresh the design, reshaped, replaced with different colors or left to fade until it no longer exists.

For who is Permanent Make-up?

·         Individuals looking to accentuate their natural beauty in a subtle and lasting way.

·         Athletes, Personal Trainers and Professional Swimmers that want to maintain a lasting attractive appearance while exercising, sweating and swimming

·         People with poor eyesight or unstable hands that want perfectly arched brows, eyeliner and lip contours every morning that are free of smudges or uneven lines.

·         Those who have improper growth or hair loss of the eyelashes or eyebrows.

·         Individuals coping with hair loss due to Alopecia Areata, Trichotillomania or Chemotherapy.

·         People with lip malformation due to Cleft Lip/Palate, a Herpes Simplex Infection or Impetigo Contagiosa.

·         Individuals with scarring due to an accident, burn, laceration, or operation

·         Actors, Actresses and Television Personalities needing to look their best at all times in the public eye

The most important condition for permanent make-up is a healthy body and completely intact skin.

Make-up cannot be done  if you have:

  • Fever or an active disease,
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  • under18 years of age,
  •  Pacemaker or major heart problems,
  •  Viral infections and/or diseases,
  • Glaucoma And /or Herpes simplex
  • Certain skin conditions e.g. rashes, blisters, psoriasis, or eczema in area of the treatment
  • Been taking steroids such as cortisone, Accutane, Retin-A or Renova\
  • Acute acne or infection in the treatment area

What is involved in shape an colour match?

Techniain will recommend the best color and shape to compliment each individual’s features in accordance with their desired outcome. Before the procedure, your technician will conduct a preliminary drawing of your make-up using the matching colored make-up pencil. If the customer is completely satisfied with the pre-drawing, the procedure will take place. During the first touch up, at least 4 weeks after the procedure, the technician will perfect the procedure in shape and color.

How long will the Procedure take?

New client consultation  –can take anywhere between 10-30 minutes.

The technical aspect of the permanent make-up proceure itself takes an average of 60-90 minutes (depending on the area and technique), however, the treatment does not only consist of the pigmentation process! In order to achieve a perfect end result, it requires some important preparations. All treatments in our studio follow a strict protocol, which includes an accurate assessment of the client’s needs, a very thorough facial analysis, precise planning of the permanent make-up, color selection, drawing, consent and medical form, anesthesia, and finally aftercare advice. The entire process therefore takes 2.5-3 hours.

Corrective sessions, which is possible within 1-3 months from the first treatment, is much shorter, usually 30-70 minutes.

What is the aftercare?

In order to prevent drying out, a freshly pigmented make-up area should be treated with a special aftercare cream for approximately 7 days. We provide an aftercare cream to our customers.  We recommend to apply it twice a day, in the morning and evening using a cotton bud. Do not use swimming pools, saunas and sun beds for 2 weeks, or have facial treatments where the beautician uses steam or exfoliating products. Any activity where the pigmented area can get wet should be avoided. If you follow these aftercare instructions, the healing will follow quickly.

What we can expect immediately after the treatment?

The freshly pigmented area is thicker, stronger and darker than the future healed result. In the case of the lips and eyelids, swelling is expected for 1-2 days. We can expect 7-10 days until the skin surface heals completely. The formation of the pigment takes several weeks, which is why we perform the correction after at least 4 weeks. During the treatment, we will provide you with an aftercare advice and cream and tell you exactly how you can take care of the newly pigmented make-up. And depending on the area, what you should not be doing during this healing time.

What if I have Permanent Make-up done elsewhere?

The easier case is if the new shape and color can be added on top of an old permanent make-up. If this is not possible, for example the existing make-up is too dark, uneven, assymetrical or wrongly placed, we will need to do removal session first. We usually ask for a photo of the old permanent make-up, or examine it personally, and then make a proposal for a solution.

Is there any discomfort or pain during the Procedure?

Minimal discomfort may be felt during the procedure. Most individuals experience a slight scratching sensation with limited to no discomfort. An anesthetic gel and disinfectant solution with a numbing agent are used during the Procedure to provide relief from any discomfort or pain.
